In Ms.Joe's class today, we were talking a bit about female circumcision in Africa. Ms.Joe makes it sound like it's not even a religious issue, but more of a human rights issue because it's so dehumanizing to have ones sexuality taken away from them. I thought that was interesting... and quite freaky. Thinking how girls in Africa have to sit there and have their grannys use unsanitized objects (could be like old tin cans or something rusted) to do the cutting of the clitoris and sewing up the vagina and stuff. That's very disturbing. This is supposedly so that the women wont cheat on their husbands or are not tempted to have sex because the pleasure is taken from them. Sex becomes nothing more than bearing children. And then when the woman first has sex with the man the stitches literally get ripped. eeKk It sounds so painful just typing it. haha
